D-TONE AMPS is a small European manufacturer specializing in building tube guitar amplifiers based on ODS and SSS type amps, so called D-Style amplifier.

ABOUT  D-TONE  BRAND

The D-TONE brand was created in 2022, but its roots date back to 2010. That's when we started cloning amplifiers like *Fender®, *Marshall®, *VOX® or *Soldano® for our own use. We noticed that our clones sounds exactly the same as their old originals (not reissue). This was not only our opinion but also that of many guitarists to whom we lent our clones. Since original amplifiers are practically unavailable, we decided to refer to this legendary sound.

Like *Alexander "Howard" D., each of our amps is 100% made hand-wired from one person, from the highest quality components, skillfully built with point-to-point technique on a turret board. Unlike many companies, we developed and manufactured the amplifier ourselves - we don't rely on ready-made components like ready amp kit or ready PCB! Most components like capacitors, resistors and tubes are NOS (New Old Stock) replicas. We used custom transformers, Mallory® 150s "mustard" capacitors and Tube Amp Doctor® tubes to get the most vintage sound possible! D-TONE AMPS is created by electronic engineers, who have 15 years of experience in cloning various amplifiers. In addition to knowing how amplifiers work, they are primarily guitarists. This combination allows us to create perfect sounding D-Style amps.

We have built the D-TONE Overdrive Specialist™ and Steel String Super™ set (head + 1x12" / 2x12" cabinet) to get as close as possible to the original amplifiers. Mr. *Alexander "Howard" D. built each amp to order for a specific guitarist, and each sounded slightly different. We modelled our amp and cab on the ones used by Robben Ford, John Mayer, Joe Bonamassa and Stevie Ray Vaughan. That's why we prefer call our amplifiers replicas - not clone. On this page we describe about best D-STYLE amp clone
